On October 13, 2023, former Georgian MP Demur Giorkhelidze published a post about the US senator’s alleged public statement. The photo shows the CNN logo and the following inscription:
Graham: “We must bomb the entire world.”
On October 14, director and pro-government expert Goga Khaindrava published the same story on Twitter. He attached a Babylon Bee link to the tweet and wrote: “Senator Lindsey Graham from South Carolina has publicly stated: The US should bomb every country so the world knows who’s boss! don’t think it’s a joke.”
Based on Khaindrava, the same information was also spread on newshub.ge.
The claim that US Senator Lindsey Graham is calling to bomb the entire world is not true and was invented by the satirical publication Babylon Bee.
The screenshot of CNN is fabricated. The US Senator has never made such as statement.
The article about the alleged violent calls of Graham was published on the website of The Babylon Bee on October 12, 2023, with the following headline: “Lindsey Graham Calls On The United States To Bomb Every Country In The World.” The same article features a number of fabricated quotes: “”If we want to restore peace throughout the world, the only realistic answer is to lay waste to every single nation around the globe;” “”Nothing will stabilize the entire world and ensure the safety of the American people like making every single country in the world hate the United States. On top of all that, some of us will also make massive amounts of money, so I’m very much in favor of this idea.”
The Babylon Bee is a satirical publication whose website states that it is the world’s best satirical site with a focus on Christian stuff, political stuff, and averyday news. The website urges us to “Take it up with God” in case of any complaints.
False information based on the satirical content of the “Babylon Bee” was fact-checked by the “Myth Detector” in the past as well. See:
