On November 13, a Georgian-language Facebook account published a TikTok video of Ukrainian blogger Vadym Sava, in which he claims that soldiers of the 3rd battalion of the 110th mechanized brigade of Ukraine are complaining about their commanders. According to Sava, the commanders abandoned the military in Avdiivka and left them for slaughter without weapons. According to Sava, the military recorded a video appeal to Zelenskyy but he and Zaluzhnyi ignored the soldiers.

On November 12, Sava’s comment was covered by Russian propaganda media (1,2,3,4,5,6,7), including Московский Комсомолец.

In addition, on November 10, Russian propaganda media released (1,2,3) information about a video of the appeal of the 3rd battalion of the 110th brigade. The video was distributed on various social networks, Facebook, Vkontakte (1,2) and Однокласники.

The claims disseminated about the 110th Mechanized Brigade of Ukraine are disinformation. The brigade itself responded to the video of the appeal on Facebook and said that it is fake and that it does not show members of the brigade, but Russian soldiers in disguise.

The video was published on the pro-Russian Telegram channel U_G_M on November 9. In the following days, this version of the video was also spread in other social networks. On the same day, November 9, the 110th Mechanized Brigade responded to the video on its Facebook page. According to the brigade, the video has fake content and the soldiers depicted on it are not members of the 110th brigade, but Russian soldiers.

The Ukrainian fact-checking service StopFake also verified the circulated video. Regarding the video, StopFake further notes that the initial suspicion is that the military appears in the video, although the speaker does not specify which company or unit the soldiers are from, nor does he give his position, last name or military nickname.

About the Source

Ukrainian blogger Vadym Sava is critical of the Ukrainian authorities. He mainly publishes videos on TikTok, he also has an Instagram page. Sava’s TikTok page mentions that the platform has already deleted his account twice. Sava often criticizes President Zelenskyy and the Ukrainian authorities, although he does not limit himself to criticism, and his videos are sometimes manipulative, for example, Sava’s video on the bill passed against the Ukrainian Orthodox Church of the Moscow Patriarchate in Ukraine creates the impression that Orthodoxy is generally prohibited in Ukraine. Sava has also published a video of Anatoly Shariy on his Instagram page. Anatoly Shariy is a pro-Russian journalist and politician from Ukraine who is accused of high treason, he was arrested in Spain on May 4, 2022.
