On August 23, 2023, a Facebook post about actor Jim Carrey and Hollywood went viral, stating that Carrey exposed the Hollywood elite. According to the Post, in an interview in 2018, Jim Carrey said that children are eaten at Christmas in Hollywood.

In 2018-2020, Russian-language Facebook users voiced the same claim as well (1, 2).

The claim that Jim Carrey accused Hollywood of cannibalism is false. No such statement can be found in reliable open sources. The statement, in fact, originates from a conspiracy website.

The statement in the name of Jim Carrey about Hollywood and eating children was actively circulated in 2017-2018 and has been verified by the American fact-checking organization Leadstories. Newspunch.com was cited as the primary source of information, but the article is currently only available in the online archive. According to the article, in 2017, Jim Carrey said during a Q&A session after a screening of the documentary Jim & Andy: The Great Beyond in New York that Lucifer’s servants in Hollywood make Christmas the darkest holiday of the year and eat children.

In fact, Jim Carrey did not make such a statement, and it is not even found in open sources.
