On November 2, 2023, lawyer Irakli Zakareishvili published a video on Facebook, which allegedly shows the reactions of members of the Israeli parliament after reading a report on the loss of manpower and equipment resulting from the confrontations in Gaza.

A video with a similar description was also shared on Twitter.

The video is being disseminated with a false description. In fact, the video depicts the members of the Israeli parliament, although these reactions are caused by seeing the dramatic footage of the October 7 “Hamas” attack.

The footage is from a 45-minute film obtained by the Israel Defense Forces (IDF) showing the brutal crimes committed by Hamas on the day of the attack. The film includes footage from social media, home video cameras, and even the body cameras of Hamas terrorists. The IDF press office screened the film for the international media.

The video also appears in other sources with the wrong context. On November 1, the same footage was shared on X (formerly Twitter). The user writes that the leaked footage shows the reaction of members of the Israeli parliament after learning the real number of dead and injured in Gaza.

The post published by Irakli Zakareishvili one day later repeats the same pathos.

The verified information was added as a note to one of the posts, where it is explained that the reaction of the MPs was caused by the heavy footage of the “Hamas” attack.

The members of the parliament themselves made comments on the screening of the film. Several of them also wrote a post on X regarding this topic.

MP Galit Distel Atbaryan writes that before the start of the screening, doctors of the Parliament offered sedatives to the attendees;

Another MP claims that he was able to watch the film only for 10 minutes.

As a result of Israel’s counterattacks, 9,061 people were killed and more than 22,000 were injured in the Gaza Strip. 134 people were killed and 2,100 were injured in the West Bank.

Since the start of the Israel-Hamas war on October 7, 2023, “Myth Detector” verified a number of false claims around the topic.
