On December 17, 2023, Russian-language Facebook accounts shared a photo (1, 2, 3.) that allegedly shows the December 16 cover of the Indian satirical publication Rodip Reb. The photo shows a crushed Christmas tree toy painted in the colors of Ukraine and accompanied by the inscription in English: “2024 UKRAINE: “Shrouded in Darkness: The Tragic Prospects of Ukraine in 2024.”

The photo also appeared in the Russian media, and on December 16, Olesya Loseva, a journalist and TV presenter of Channel One of Russia, published it on the Telegram channel.

The authors of the post disseminate a photo fabrication. A satirical publication with the name of Rodip Reb does not exist and is made up.

In the process of verifying the circulated photo, it was established that the Indian satirical magazine “Rodip Reb” in English and Indian languages cannot be found in any search engine, including Google, Bing, and Yandex. No information can be found about the outlet, and most likely, no such publication has ever existed. The shared photo also shows a link to the site from which, according to the authors of the posts, the cover was taken: www.rodipreb.in. However, every attempt to access this site fails.

In order to further clarify the issue, “Myth Detector” contacted the Indian fact-checking organization FACTLY MEDIA & RESEARCH. They confirmed that there is no Indian publication known as “Rodip Reb” and that the name of the author mentioned in the photo cannot be traced.

The photo itself cannot be found on the Internet. It is only being circulated by Russian-speaking users on social networks, and its alleged source is Olesya Loseva, a Russian journalist and host of the program “Время пакежет” (Time Will Show) on Russia’s Channel One. She is a supporter and propagandist of the Russian government and has used her personal Telegram channel in the past to spread fake photos, including ones aimed at discrediting Ukraine.
