On January 7, 2018, an ultra-nationalist website Alt-Info released an article, quoting Anders Thornberg, the head of Sweden’s security service, as saying that the country is facing an increased threat of extremism. The Georgian online edition, which refers to Breitbart News Network, a website with anti-immigration editorial policy, as its primary source, with the latter using BBC as its source, removes this fragment of the interview from the context and says nothing about Russia’s fake news threat, which is the main topic of British BBC’s news article.

BBC released an interview with the head of Sweden’s security service headlined “Swedish security chief warning on fake news” on January 4, 2018 with Thornberg saying that security concerns are growing as Sweden prepares for its election.

Myth Detector offers BBC’s authentic interview with Anders Thornberg, as well as Alt-Info’s censored version, where the fragment about the threats coming from Russia has been removed.
