The screenshot of the statement disseminated on Facebook is fabricated. In fact, in the statement related to the Israel-Hamas war, “Bassiani” requests to send a donation to the charity organization, “Palestine Children’s Relief Fund”.

On October 19, 2023, the nightclub “Bassiani” published a statement related to the Israel-Hamas war on its Instagram page. The post expressed grief over the loss of lives in Israel and the Gaza Strip.

“Devastated to be looking at what is unfolding in front of the eyes of all in the Middle East region. The horrifying terror that has taken the lives of many, from electronic music festivals in Israel to the Gaza settlements in Palestine, from refugee shelters to the city streets and hospitals, will not and cannot be inscribed as an act of justice by any means.”

The death of innocent civilians, and especially of the most vulnerable—women and children—and total restraint on access to humans’ basic needs, such as water, food, electricity, and healthcare, is a brutal violation of international law, which will only bring even more deaths and chaos and definitely will not bring the much-needed peace to anyone on either side and elsewhere in the world.”- we read in the statement.

According to the club, it is everyone’s responsibility to raise their voices against terrorism, oppose injustice, and call on the rest of the world to provide humanitarian aid to the Palestinian people.

At the end of the statement, the club requests followers to donate to the charity organization, “Palestine Children’s Relief Fund”. The organization’s Instagram account (@thepcrf) is also tagged in the post. In the fabricated screenshot spread on Facebook, “Palestine Children’s Aid Fund” is replaced by “Palestine Resistance Movement” and @thepcrf by @Hamas.

After the start of the Israel-Hamas war, “Myth Detector” debunked a number of false claims about Israel and Palestine disseminated on social media.
