On February 8, 2024, an anonymous Facebook user “Anti-Liberal” shared a photo of the US ambassador to Georgia, Robin Dunnigan, with a quote: “Georgia is already a member of the European Union, Georgians just don’t realize that; the main thing is to hold a Gay Pride, the pension will be 800 EUR. – R. Dunnigan.”

The quote disseminated under the name of Robin Dunnigan is fabricated. The US ambassador to Georgia did not make a statement of a similar kind

A fabricated quote is being circulated under the US ambassador’s name. In fact, the US ambassador to Georgia never made a statement seen in the photo.

A statement of similar content cannot be found in open sources – including, the embassy’s official Facebook page and website. The fact that the quote is fabricated was confirmed to “Myth Detector” by the US Embassy.

The last statement that Robin Dunnigan made regarding the EU dates back to February 7, 2024. Dunnigan says that the EU has clearly defined what steps Georgia should take, “this is a big work” that requires resources and national consensus. According to her own words, the US is ready to support all steps of Georgia.

False information about the US ambassador Robin Dunnigan was debunked by “Myth Detector” in the past as well. For more details, see:
