On August 13, the Alliance of Patriots\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.myvideo.ge\/v\/3958623?fbclid=IwAR2QxGhZ_RggwkbUZFqiOolRs1Y1u6tHMqc0HsICquBYA0tt9wdxS2ocI28\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer nofollow\">held<\/a> a special briefing, where its chairperson, Irma Inashvili declared mistrust towards the IRI-commissioned public opinion poll released a day earlier; she again accused NDI, IRI and Edison Research of telling lies and presented the results of an alternative survey conducted by her party as a proof. Inashvili demanded expulsion of the IRI head from the country, like, as she claimed, it happened when the NDI head was recalled from Georgia.<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #ff0000;\"><strong>Davit Tarkhan-Mouravi\u2019s statement as if NDI and IRI suspended their polls for one year following the party\u2019s campaign is a lie, because NDI released its survey in June 2020, six months after its latest poll, while IRI published its survey in August 2020, nine months after its most recent poll. It is also a lie that the NDI head was allegedly recalled from Georgia following the Alliance of Patriots\u2019 campaign, because actually she moved to Stockholm to hold the position of Global Program Manager at International Institute for Democracy and Electoral Assistance (IDEA).<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><span style=\"color: #ab0707;\"><strong>NDI released its survey in June 2020, six months after its latest poll, while IRI published its survey in August 2020, nine months after its most recent poll.<\/strong><\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>On January 26, 2020, the Alliance of Patriots\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/on.ge\/story\/49336-%E1%83%9E%E1%83%90%E1%83%A2%E1%83%A0%E1%83%98%E1%83%9D%E1%83%A2%E1%83%97%E1%83%90-%E1%83%90%E1%83%9A%E1%83%98%E1%83%90%E1%83%9C%E1%83%A1%E1%83%98-ndi-%E1%83%A1%E1%83%90-%E1%83%93%E1%83%90-iri-%E1%83%A1-%E1%83%90%E1%83%99%E1%83%A0%E1%83%AB%E1%83%90%E1%83%9A%E1%83%95%E1%83%98%E1%83%A1-%E1%83%9B%E1%83%9D%E1%83%97%E1%83%AE%E1%83%9D%E1%83%95%E1%83%9C%E1%83%98%E1%83%97-%E1%83%90%E1%83%A8%E1%83%A8-%E1%83%A1-%E1%83%A1%E1%83%90%E1%83%94%E1%83%9A%E1%83%A9%E1%83%9D%E1%83%A1%E1%83%97%E1%83%90%E1%83%9C-%E1%83%90%E1%83%A5%E1%83%AA%E1%83%98%E1%83%90%E1%83%A1-%E1%83%9B%E1%83%90%E1%83%A0%E1%83%97%E1%83%90%E1%83%95%E1%83%A1\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer nofollow\">held<\/a>\u00a0a protest rally in front of the U.S. Embassy in Tbilisi demanding to ban the activities of NDI and IRI in Georgia.<\/p>\n<p>NDI and IRI conduct public opinion polls in Georgia several times per year. Based on the data for past three years, NDI conducts about 2-3 polls per year and IRI \u2013 1-2 polls. Speculations on Thornton\u2019s transfer to new job were part of a joint\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.mythdetector.ge\/en\/myth\/online-and-offline-organized-discreditation-campaigns-against-ndi\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">campaign<\/a>\u00a0unleashed on Facebook by the pages affiliated with the Alliance of Patriots and the government.<\/p>\n<p>According to the report \u201c<a href=\"http:\/\/mdfgeorgia.ge\/uploads\/library\/173\/file\/eng\/AntiWest-Booklet-ENG.pdf\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer nofollow\">Anti-Western Propaganda 2019<\/a>\u201d released by the Media Development Foundation, the Patriots of Alliance held a rally in front of the U.S. Embassy in January 2020 to voice protest against NDI and IRI surveys that was preceded by the statements of Bidzina Ivanishvili, the leader of Georgian Dream, about unreliability of these institutions.
