On April 20, 2023, in the prime time program of the Georgian pro-Kremlin “Sezoni TV,” the host, Nikoloz Mzhavandze, claimed that in one of the schools in Great Britain, naked men are being introduced to students. The program also showed a video in which four naked men enter a room of 5 schoolchildren, where the other two adults ask the children questions about the genitals of these men.

Nikoloz Mzhavanadze: I would like to present a disgusting and terrible story of what is happening in one of the British schools… This Europe is the modern Europe, where naked men are introduced to schoolchildren. Do you think that this is being implemented only in one school?! In some places, they bring in naked men; in others – naked women, and if you really want to, go and live in this den of depravity.”

The same video was published by several Facebook accounts (1, 2), including World Politics, claiming that such classes are being held in British schools.

The posts are being circulated with manipulative descriptions, creating the impression that such lessons are standard practice in UK schools. In fact, the video does not depict a UK school lesson but an episode of a television show called “Naked Education”. The purpose of the program is to combat body-related stereotypes in society. Notably, after the show aired, the Office of Communications (Ofcom) received 1,297 complaints from viewers.

The video, which shows naked men, does not reflect the teaching process in a UK school. In fact, the video in question is an excerpt from an educational program on UK’s Channel 4.

A new television program called “Naked Education” has been broadcast on Channel 4 in Great Britain since April 4, 2023. The purpose of the program is to show teenagers different types of bodies and to destroy body-related stereotypes.

The show was criticized after the first episode aired, and according to the 20 April article by The Independent, 1,297 complaints were made to the UK’s Office of Communications (Ofcom). Viewers had complaints about nudity. According to Variety, Ofcom said in a conversation that they would evaluate the complaints received about the show and decide whether to open an investigation.

An opinion piece on “Naked Education” published in the British publication The Guardian highlighted that dissatisfaction with one’s appearance among young people could have a negative impact on all aspects of their life, including finding a high-paying job in the future and respect in personal relationships. The author of the article mentions the work of Keon West, a professor at the University of London, according to which subjects’ perception of their own bodies improved after they participated in West’s experiment, in which all of them were naked and communicated with strangers.

It is worth noting that a compulsory subject called “Relationship, Sex and Health Education (RSHE)” is being taught in the UK since 2020. In elementary school, in the subject “relationships”, students receive information about healthy relationships based on mutual respect in the family, friendship and online space. And at the level of secondary education, the subject of “relationships and sexual education” is included in the teaching process, placing particular emphasis on the harmful effects of drugs and alcohol, as well as on safe sexual life.

With the aim to amplify the anti-Western narrative, as if European countries are introducing depravity in schools, video manipulations have been disseminated in the past as well. The video, which was presented as a sexology lesson in Germany, was, in fact, a clip from a pornographic video. See more:
