On November 30, head of the “Rights Defenders’ Union” organization Nikoloz Mzhavanadze published a video on his Facebook account with the following description: “Azerbaijan dreams of completely conquering Georgia and publishes a scandalous video clip on social network”. Mzhavanadze also notes that for some agents of SOCAR, it’d be credible only if Russians produced the identical video clip. The video graphically illustrates how the name “Georgia” is erased from Georgian territory and is replaced with Azerbaijan. The last frame of the video shows “Kazanan AZERBAYCAN” which means winning Azerbaijan.

;
Post published by Mzhavanadze is manipulative because the video was actually created using the footage from the computer game “Age of Civilizations II”. A strategic game’s objective is for a player to use military tactics and cunning diplomacy to either unify the world or conquer it. Claim as if Azerbaijan dreams of conquering Georgia aims to rekindle historical trauma and anti-Azerbaijani xenophobic attitudes.

The original video was published by the Azerbaijani Youtuber Eren Ceylan on January 1, 2019, and is part of the game series that simulates Azerbaijan’s gradual conquest of the Middle East countries as well as certain territories of Russia.

;

A video disseminated by Mzhavanadze is a video montage with added music and the writing “Kazanan AZERBAYCAN” – Winning Azerbaijan, which we don’t see in the original video.

Videos from the same game that depicts Armenia expanding its influence in the whole Caucasia and the ones where Georgia is the one conquering Armenia, Azerbaijan and the Balkan peninsula can also be found on Youtube. Based on this video footage, it’s unreasonable to conclude that any of the aforesaid states dream of conquering neighboring country or the whole world since video games are a simulation.

;
Game description

“Create own world and play it!” is the slogan for the strategic military game Age of Civilizations II/Age of History II. The Player has to use military tactics and cunning diplomacy to either unify the world or conquer it. The game includes the whole history of humanity – beginning in the age of early civilization and leading into the far future. Players can either simulate the scenario of the well-known historical events or create another history, the alternative reality for their tribe, country, and empire.

;
Visual manipulation

Spreading game footage under the guise of real events aims to generate visual evidence and is an approved method of Kremlin propaganda. You can read more about particular examples in publications of “Myth Detector”

Dissemination of the video on social network

Mzhavanadze cites Ekskluzivi TV’s Facebook page as the source of the video, where the post has been removed. In order to find out if this page had indeed published the video, we remove the post ID from the indicated link, and the left page ID in the link forwards us to Ekskluzivi TV’s Facebook page.
