On May 12, Facebook user Bacho Grigolia published a post about Elon Musk. According to the author, Musk is an alien lizard who is trying to go back to his own planet Mars. The post has attached the photo and a quote of Elon Musk about press and media control. The photo lists various international publications emphasizing the Jewish origins of the owners.

Elon Musk’s quote, given in the post by Bacho Grigolia, is disseminated without context, while the claim about reptilian life on Mars and Musk’s reptilian origins is a conspiracy theory.

  • Elon Musk’s quote is disseminated without context

On May 27, 2018, a Tweet responding to American journalist Joshua Topolsky appeared on the Twitter account of Businessman and inventor Elon Musk. This precise response contains the quote “Who do you think “owns” the press? Hello.” used by Bacho Grigolia.

Musk’s comment about media ownership was made following the disagreement between him and NBCNews journalist Ben Collins.

;I
n his Tweet comments, Collins criticized Musk for the negative attitude towards journalists and called for him to get well acquainted with their work process. Musk told Collins that the journalist was convinced of his own truth, did not want to believe in society’s mistrust towards media, and could run his own public opinion poll if he didn’t believe Musk. This is where the Outline founder journalist Joshua Topolsky joined the discussion and wrote (the comment has been deleted) about the public opinion poll, telling Musk to think about if it was in the interests of “powerful people” to A. support a press that will expose their lies in the future or B. tear it down so their lie is either to tell. Topolsky also wrote that after Musk answers this question, he should ask himself why the public opinion polls look bad.

Musk’s sentence about media ownership was followed by backlash since numerous anti-Semitic users responded, including photos that listed Jews as owners of all huge international and local media outlets. Musk did not comment on it until the next day and because of that, he experienced backlash and was accused of encouraging anti-Semitism.

The next day Musk explained that his sentence, a reply to Joshua Topolsky, disseminated without a complete context and anyone who saw anti-Semitism in it, revealed their true colors since the context was very clear.

;
It’s worth mentioning that shortly before this dialogue on Twitter, Elon Musk harshly criticized media outlets for their bias and planned to create a platform “Pravda” for rating the credibility of media and authors

  • Conspiracy about lizard people and its Georgian source

Bacho Grigolia’s post notes that Elon Musk is presumably a lizard from Mars disguised as a human, who is trying to go back to Mars, the main planet for reptilians. In reality, the conspiracy about lizards on earth has been circulating for years now and its origins are associated with British journalist, later a conspiracy theorist David Icke. According to Icke, reptilian creatures have invaded the earth. They arrived from various parts of space and most of them are aliens. In theory, Mars is one of their birth planets.

In the Georgian social network, the post about lizard people conspiracy theory was disseminated by one of the Facebook users Levan Navi back in April 2021. Read more in the article prepared by “Myth Detector”:
