On October 28, a Facebook page „მიშა დაგვიბრუნდი“ (Come Back Misha) published a sponsored post with the following text: “Under a revolutionary scenario, would you die to change Ivanishvili’s government? Express your opinion through [Facebook] reactions”.
The post had 419 reactions, 238 comments, and six shares as of October 29, 15:00.
The post was sponsored on October 28 with a sum up to USD 100 by Irakli Lomidze. On October 29, the post was not sponsored anymore.
“Come Back Misha” is a fake support page of Mikheil Saakashvili, which was created two weeks before the 2020 parliamentary election. Press service of the United National Movement (UNM) denies ties with the page. The post published on the page in the run-up to the election aims to associate the UNM with a revolutionary scenario. The text of the post includes an open call to physical sacrifice with the aim of replacing the government.
Myth Detector contacted the UNM for a comment. The press service of the party stated that the page “Come Back Misha” is not registered or managed by them and that it aims to disseminate fake and provocative information.
Makharadze Datucha, a supporter of the UNM, published a post about the page on Facebook. He, too, mentions that the page does not belong to the UNM or its supporters.
The page “Come Back Misha” was created on Facebook on October 12. The page uses Mikheil Saakashvili’s photo with UNM’s logo as the profile and cover pictures.
As of October 28, the page had 205 likes.
The page actively shares posts by the official page of Mikheil Saakashvili. Moreover, it publishes his photos and videos with satirical descriptions calling his supporters to mobilize.
The post by “Come Back Misha” about the revolutionary scenario in a manipulative context was disseminated two days before the election. The Secretary General of the Georgian Dream, Irakli Kobakhidze, spoke about the revolutionary scenario at a briefing that took place on October 28, 12:26. Kobakhidze stated that the UNM had allegedly created a revolutionary staff headed by Vano Merabishvili. He also added that the staff aimed to provoke citizens and direct political processes to a revolutionary scenario.
