On December 22-23rd, 2022, Russian propaganda media Правда, as well as Russian (1,2, 3, 4, 5, 6) and Georgian (1, 2) published a photo of Volodymyr Zelenskyy’s visit to the white house. Apart from Zelenskyy, the photo depicts the President of the US, Joe Biden and the First Lady of the US, Jill Biden, while Joe Biden’s hand is placed on Zelenskyy’s buttock.
The disseminated photo is altered. In the authentic version of the photo, Biden’s hand is placed on Zelenskyy’s back. The photo was published by the First Lady of the US on her official Twitter account.
On December 21st, 2022, Volodymyr Zelenskyy arrived in the US on an official visit. The mentioned photo was taken in the White House and was published by the first lady of the US, Jill Biden, on Twitter on December 22nd. The authentic version shows that the US President has his hand on Volodymyr Zelenskyy’s back.
The mentioned photo was also verified by the fact-checking team of Reuters.
