Alt-Info started Internet broadcasting on 8 January. It obtained general broadcasting authorization on 26 November 2020. The founders of Alt-Info are Shota Martinenko and Tsiala Morgoshia. Programs of Alt-Info are released via Facebook page which was created on 3 January. There is also a public group of Alt-Info on Facebook, which is administered by Giorgi Odzelashvili.
Anti-liberal group Alt-Info is a propagandist and anti-Western platform with links to Georgian ultranationalists. It often publishes manipulative and false materials about migrants, liberal legislation and philanthropist George Soros.
Alt-Info Ltd. was registered in the Public Registry on 28 January 2019. Shota Martinenko is recorded as its director, who also owns 50% of its shares while another 50% is owned by Tsiala Morgoshia. The Alt-Info website, publishing news items, was created on 11 June 2017, according to Whois Lookup. As regards its Facebook page, it was removed, first, in May 2019 and then, in October 2020 by the Facebook administration. In October, not only one the Facebook group but the entire network of Alt-Info assets was removed. According to a DFRLAb study, the far-right group Alt-Info used inauthentic Facebook profiles, pages and groups to disseminate its content.
International Society for Fair Elections and Democracy (ISFED) also studied the activity of Alt-Info. According to the report of this study, Alt-Info is associated with a non-profit (non-commercial) legal entity Alternative for Georgia which was registered on January 30, 2019. According to the National Agency of Public Registry, board members of the organization include Konstantine Morgoshia, Zurab Makharadze, Shota Martinenko, Irakli Kizilashvili and dual Russian-Georgian citizen Giorgi Kardava.
