On January 18 and 21, an antiliberal Facebook page “Presstitution” shared the screenshots of falsified Facebook posts allegedly written by two women’s rights activists, Baia Pataraia and Ida Bakhturidze.
The screenshots ascribed by Presstitution to the women’s rights activists are fake and aim at discrediting them. Both Ida Bakhturidze and Baia Pataraia confirmed to the Myth Detector that the screenshots were not authentic.
Why are these screenshot fake?
1. The time indicated on Baia Pataraia’s screened post does not exist.
The photo accompanying Baia Pataraia’s fake post shows that she uploaded the image at 22:00am on January 21; however, it should be noted that no such time exists in the 12-hour clock system.
Unlike the 24-hour clock, the 12-hour clock runs from 1am to 12 noon and then from 1pm to 12 midnight. Facebook uses the 12-hour clock system. Accordingly, the time indicated on the above-mentioned photo cannot be shown on any Facebook post.
2. The visual side of Ida Bakhturidze’s screenshot does not correspond to Facebook’s current design
Ida Bakhturidze’s fake screenshot has 30 likes and 18 shares. However, the company used this design in a period between 2011 and 2017 and it significantly differs from its current format.
As an illustration, we offer you an authentic public post published by Ida Bakhturidze on January 19. As seen on the authentic screenshot, reactions, comments and shares are placed together and they simply differ by color and style.
3. Baia Pataraia and Ida Bakhturidze do not confirm the authenticity of the screenshots
The both activists confirmed to the Myth Detector that the screenshots are not authentic. The posts with similar content cannot be found on their timelines.
