On June 6, the Facebook page Lia’s Wonderland ფიქრთგასართველად (Lia’s Wonderland for Entertaining Thoughts) published a post stating that 15 years old adolescent was caught stealing from a store, during the court hearing it was revealed that an unemployed boy stole bread and cheese from a  store for his sick mother. According to the post, after hearing the story, the judge said the following: “Here, we are all responsible for this crime. All who’s here in this courtroom today including me will be fined 10 dollars”
As of June 9, the post has 8 100 reactions and 5 500 shares.

The photo actually depicts the 2011 court hearing in Florida but instead of bread-theft, the 12 year old boy was charged with beating his little brother to death.

The verification of the photo in the Google search engine revealed that the identical photo was initially published in the newspaper  “The Florida Times Union” on January 3, 2012. The photo depicts the 2011 court hearing in Florida and the 12 years old defendant was charged with the deadly beating of his 2 years old brother instead of a bread-theft.

12 years old Cristian Juan Fernandez was charged with first-degree murder. In the newspaper, it’s written that 2 years old David died in March 2011  from a beating that caused a fractured skull, bleeding brain, and bruising to his left eye and nose. The family said that the accident happened while playing a game. Cristian Fernandez’s mother was also charged with culpable negligence since she failed to call the ambulance when she found her child unresponsive.

In January 2018, Action News Jax spread the news that 19 years old Fernandez was released after serving 7 years at the juvenile facility.

Identical photo with the same description has been disseminated in other countries as well. In October 2020 the Indian fact-checkers also verified the story of 15 years old boy. In the video, it’s stated that footage of the court hearing was also published by Foxnews.

The dissemination of the post 

The post published by the Facebook page “Lia’s Wonderland ფიქრთგასართველად” (Lia’s Wonderland for Entertaining Thoughts) was also published by the Facebook user Besarioni Gagievi on June 7. As of June 9, the post has 3,100 reactions and 1,500 shares.

On June 7-8, an identical post was disseminated by five Facebook pages (ტიტუნები, The House of Education/განათლების სახლი, Georgian Tik-Tokers•
Mcvane.Ge, პოეზიის 5 წუთი).

Post with identical photo and description was spread in nine groups( მწვანე ჰორიზონტი / Green Horizon, ქართველები სალერნოში/Georgiani a Salerno, ქართველები იტალიაში, აქ სიმართლეა!, წიგნომანები ?,უსასრულო პოეზია, ??გიჟების იმპერია??, მე ❤ ემიგრანტი, ჩვენ საბერძნეთში) .
