On October 30, Facebook user Manana Beradze posted a video featuring riot police bursting into the Metro Station and detaining passengers. A description accompanying the video reads that the incident was linked to face masks. It becomes clear from the comments that initially the author indicated Paris as the place of incident but changed it to Seoul later. Presently, the description indicates no location. As of November 1, the video has 186 shares and 8,900 views.
The description accompanying the video is false. In fact, the video has nothing to do with wearing face masks. It was recorded at the Bucharest Metro Station and features a clash between football fans with police involvement.
Steaua fans against Dinamo fans
There are numerous facts of clashes between the fans of two Romanian football clubs – Steaua and Dinamo. The spread video is just featuring police involvement in one of such clashes that took place in Bucharest, at Stefan cel Mare Metro Station on October 2. According to Romanian media outlets, the fans insulted each other on the Internet and later decided to continue their dispute beyond the Internet space. About 100 Steaua fans and 60 Dinamo fans gathered at the Metro Station, but police interfered to prevent the incident. Finally, 30 participants of the conflict were arrested. Police seized knives, explosives and sticks from them. Two police officers sustained injuries during the clash.
Spread of video
Shortly after the video was posted, Facebook user Maka Peradze shared it to the group ქართველი ემიგრანტები მსოფლიოში (Georgian Emigrants in the World). On October 31, another Facebook user Giorgi Javshanashvili uploaded the video to one of anti-corona groups კორონა აფიორა (Corona Hoax), indicating Paris Metro Station in the description. Facebook users shared the video from the group 14 times.
