On September 28th, a screenshot of “TV Imedi” was shared into the group “1.000.000 Georgians,” according to which the former member of the parliament Guguli Magaradze initiated to ban anti-vaxxers from having sex. As of September 28th, 11:00, the post has accumulated 125 shares and hundreds of responses.
The disseminated screenshot is fabricated, and the claim that Guguli Magharadze demands restricting the anti-vaxxers from having sex is disinformation. No similar statement made by Guguli Magradze can be found in any open source. The website of “TV Imedi” does not include a statement of similar content either.
The spread of the fabricated screenshot was followed by a number of negative comments directed against Guguli Maghradze. In fact, an initiative similar to Guguli Maghradze’s cannot be found in the current news or the news archive of “Imedi TV.” While searching for a similar quote on the Google search engine, one can only find the web page of the Journalism Resource Center, where the mentioned story is located in the fact-checking section. The website clarifies that the alleged initiative of Guguli Maghradze is disinformation, and it was spread on July 26th, 2021, with a fake screenshot of “TV Imedi.”
Noteworthy, several words are being written using a different shrift size in the title of the fabricated screenshot, a trait that is usually not characteristic of “TV Imedi.”
