On April 15 2019, the leader of the Alliance of Patriots, Davit Tarkhan-Mouravi, claimed on TV Obieqtivi that the United States of America gifted anti-tank systems, the so-called Javelins to Ukraine, unlike Georgia.

Davit Tarkhan-Mouravi, Alliance of Patriots: „What else should we finance? It is funny, just imagine, Georgia finances the US economy. Georgia buys Javelins from the USA, pays 350 million lari, while USA gifted the same Javelins to Ukraine.”

The information spread by Davit Tarkhan-Mouravi, as if the United States of America gifted Javelins to Ukraine, is fake, since Ukraine, just as Georgia, officially bought anti-tank Javelins from the government of the United States of America. Moreover, a comparison of the amounts paid by Ukraine and Georgia for the anti-tank system is irrelevant, since Georgia bought from the USA a few military device pieces more.

    1. Ukraine has bought the Javelins

In the beginning of March 2018, the U.S. Department of State declared that USA planned to sell anti-tank system Javelin to Ukraine. In April of the same year, the fact of selling Javelins to Ukraine has been confirmed.

    2. Georgia has bought more anti-tank system pieces than Ukraine

Altogether, Ukraine has bought from the USA 210 anti-tank missiles and 37 Javelin Command Launch Units, for which it paid 47 million US dollars. Georgia, in turn, along with other military devices has bought 410 anti-tank missiles and 72 Javelin Command Launch Units, which cost 75 million US dollars.
