In a March 4-10, 2019 issue “Asaval Dasavali” newspaper published an article headlined “Read and be terrified- it is the official plan for Georgians’ genocide!” According to the claims of “Asaval Dasavali”, UN partner International organization “International Planned Parenthood Federation” handed out booklets to the students in South Africa, by which it urged them to hide from a sexual partner the fact of having HIV infection. According to the article, the aim of the organization is the popularization of homosexualism and increasing the number of people with HIV infection.
The information spread by “Asaval Dasavali” as if UN partner International organization “International Planned Parenthood Federation” handed out booklets to the students in South Africa, calling them to hide from a sexual partner the fact of having HIV infection, is a lie. The aim of this organization is to promote sexual and reproductive health and the guidebook “About sexual and reproductive rights” developed by it is oriented on the improving the lives of HIV-infected young people and prevention of the disease. The guidebook includes the recommendation about disclosing HIV status to the partner.

The 16-page guidebook “About Sexual and reproductive health” is intended for any person living with HIV infection or its partner. Target group of the guidebook is not limited to a concrete geographical region and does not refer only to youth living in South Africa. However, this document reflects the main approaches of the organization.
In a guidebook the rights and responsibilities of HIV-infected person, about both, its status and sexual life, are discussed in a detailed manner. The aim of the guidebook is to inform young people with HIV infection about safe and protected sex, access to health and social services. The guidebook is oriented on the accessibility for HIV-infected people to fulfilled life, including having safe and fulfilled sex life.

In the guidebook, the responsibility of a person with HIV infection to its actual partner or potential sexual partner is defined. It is clearly stated that it is necessary for HIV-infected persons to inform a partner about their status, in order to take care of safe and protected sexual relationships together. However, it is noted, that disclosing of the status is the right of infected person. One may use that right when he is ready to. The document provides wide-ranging recommendations regarding how, when and in what sircumstances HIV- infected person can disclose its status. Given that the HIV status is connected to stigma and discrimination in society, its disclosing is difficult enough. Accordingly, different opportunities for disclosing the status are described in the guidebook in a detailed manner.
