In April 22-28 issue, Asaval-dasavali newspaper published an interview with Archpriest Davit Isakadze. In the interview he states, that the mosque in New Zealand, where the terroristic act has been committed, was originally a church, which has been sold to Muslims, who, in turn, converted it to the mosque.

Davit Isakadze, Archpriest: „In New Zealand, for instance, a Christian church has been sold to Muslims, who, in turn, converted it to mosque. This was the mosque, where the tragedy struck, where 50 people were murdered by one mentally ill person’s automatic gunfire. Actually, the tragedy was the result of falling in sin and betrayal of Jesus Christ“.

The statement by Archpriest Davit Isakadze as if a Christian church in New Zealand has been sold to Muslims and they converted it to the mosque, is a lie, since Al-Noor mosque (Masjid Al-Noor) named by the Archpriest, was built by Muslims in a town of Christchurch, in New Zealand, in 1985.

On March 15, 2019, an armed terrorist attacked  Al-Noor mosque in Christchurch city, New Zealand, killing 50 people.

In the book of Erich Kolig “New Zealand’s Muslims and Multiculturalism“ it is noted , that the Canterbury Muslim Association was established in Christchurch(New Zealand) in 1977, which built the Al-Noor mosque in this city in 1985.

There is a photo stored in the archive of New Zealand’s newspaper Christchurch Star, which was taken on January 22, 1985 and which displays the external facade of the Al-Noor mosque under construction.

Accordingly, the mosque in New Zealand, where the terroristic act was committed on March 15, has never been a Christian church

Christchurch

The town, where the mosque named by archpriest Isakadze is located is called Christchurch, which literally means “Church of Christ”.
