On September 29, a fake Facebook user Kote Afxazi shared a post by another Facebook user Nina Marji in five public Facebook groups with the following caption: “Thousands of doctors Rallied in Vienna in solidarity with those doctors who are protesting COVID-scam!!! Shame on Georgian doctors!!!!” Nina Marji’s post was initially shared on September 19 in a Facebook group “ანტი-მასონობა. ’ანტიქრისტეს’ ახალი მსოფლიო წესრიგი (NWO) ; ‘ანტი-ეკუმენიზმი’” (Anti-masonry. ‘Antichrist’s’ New World Order (NWO); Anti-ecumenism) and relied on information by an Austrian edition Wochenblick.

"

The given post is manipulative, as the Austrian source mentions that hundreds, not thousands, of people attended the rally and it does not say whether participants were doctors. License of one of those doctors, in whose support the rallies were held, was revoked because he was issuing illegal certificates for bypassing carrying the face mask for EUR 20. The second doctor was fired from the hospital due to a discontent of a patient.

According to the Austrian Wochenblick, which Nina Marji relied on, the solidarity rally was held on in front of the Medical Association in Vienna September 17. Posts, shared in the Georgian Facebook pages, mention that the rally was held by thousands of doctors, however, the article by Wochenblick only says that hundreds of people gathered at the rally and does not mention the participation of doctors. According to the participants of the rally, they were protesting “discrimination of doctors” by the Medical Association, specifically referring to two doctors – Dr. Peer Eifler and Dr. Konstantina Rösch.

Who are the doctors that served as a reason for the rally in Vienna?

The rally was held in support of Dr. Peer Eifler and Dr. Konstantina Rösch on September 17. According to the participants, the Medical Association was discriminatory to them. The Association is currently discussing revoking the license of Dr. Peer Eifler, the reason being that he illegally issued certificates that allowed bypassing the mandatory face mask rule. Eifler has even created a personal webpage that includes a form which needs to be submitted together with the payment of EUR 20 in order to make the certificate. Eifler was writing that face masks were harmful for human health and causes mental traumas. “Protect yourselves from the face mask hysteria, do not be afraid of the fake coronavirus” – he wrote on his Facebook.

"

As for the second doctor, Konstantina Rösch, she worked at Graz State Hospital and was fired. The webpage of the Hospital names the discontent of a patient as the reason behind Rösch’s dismissal. It is noteworthy that on July 1, 2020, Rösch made a speech at a rally organized by ICI (Initiative für evidenzbasierte Corona Informationen) where she claimedthat everyone who said that face masks are good for protection, are lying. Moreover, Rösch was saying that face masks are being used to subjugate citizens. ICI is against wearing face masks and vaccination and is often organizing rallies.
