A protest poster is being circulated on Russian-language accounts on Facebook and Instagram networks, which shows a protest participant holding a poster with the inscription in Russian: Путин ты мой рот е**л (Putin, you fu*k my mouth). Social media users say this is because the Russian language is no longer taught in Georgia.
The same poster was also disseminated on social networks in 2019-2023 (1, 2, 3).
The poster disseminated by Russian-language accounts is fabricated. The authentic version of the poster contains a phrase of the opposite meaning and was taken in Tbilisi in 2019, during the so-called Gavrilov’s Night demonstrations.
The Russian-language poster has been photoshopped. The original version of the poster says: Путин я твой рот е**л (Putin, I fu*k your mouth). The photo of the poster was taken during protest demonstrations in 2019 and posted on an online platform.
On June 29, 2019, Russian MP Sergei Gavrilov took the chair of the Head of Georgian Parliament. He opened the session of the Interparliamentary Assembly on Orthodoxy as chairperson of the Assembly. This act sparked protests in Tbilisi, and Gavrilov was expelled from Tbilisi. The abovementioned poster was photographed during that very protest demonstration.
