On April 30, news agency Marshalpress published information piece titled "Russia put its Air Defense Systems in the Full Military Readiness Mode”. The material cites the Chairman of the Defense and Security Committee of the Russian Federation Council, Viktor Ozerov, who said that after North Korea tested its ballistic missiles on April 29, the Russian defense systems located in the Far East were put in the full military readiness mode.
Material of Marshalpress was accompanied with a photo that pictured surface-to-air defense system Aster 30 SAMP/T, which the Russian Federation does not possess.
Aster 30 SAMP/T surface-to-air defense system has been developed by Eurosam, a European consortium created through the partnership of French and Italian governments. Eurosam, in turn, incorporates the companies MBDA and Thales. As of today, the Aster family systems are found in the military arsenal of Italian and French armed forces.
According to the TV channel Zvezda, owned by the Ministry of Defense of the Russian Federation, Russian Anti-Aircraft and Anti-Missile Forces (Войска ПВО-ПРО) are using anti-aircraft missile systems S-400 Triuf and S-300 Favorit, as well as the Pantsir complex for air defense purposes.
